Before we say goodbye to August and the summer season draws to an end, why not treat yourself to a last-minute weekend away?
You don’t have to spend a small fortune or spend hours in the car, instead rejoice in discovering new villages and towns closer to home.
Just off the M3 junction 5 sits a quaint little village, renown for its RAF roots, called Odiham and we are lucky enough to have our sister pub The Red Lion ideally positioned in the heart of this glorious little village. It is an ideal base for exploring the plethora of attractions in and around the Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire border and provides the perfect opportunity to potter around uncovering cute tea shops, finding gorgeous and unusual trinkets and gifts or heading out for a day of adventures at some of the many tourist attractions close by.
Not only is The Red Lion an outstanding pub, which offers fresh, local and seasonal food and drink; they also have seven bedrooms, each offering modern elegance and luxury, whilst retaining a few original features of its grade-listed history.
Overnight Bliss
All bedrooms offer the mod-cons and luxuries you need to guarantee a glorious home-away-from-home experience and perfect sleep. Examples include ESPA toiletries, luxury Egyptian linen, goose feather and down quilts (allergy options available) to the soft, fluffy white bathrobes.
Local coffee and chocolate
Each bedroom also includes a mini bar, a Dualit coffee machine with complimentary tea-pods and Mozzo coffee-pods to be enjoyed with complimentary local chocolatier Choose Chocolates, who use fresh, local Hampshire ingredients to fill and top each mouthful of deliciousness. We’ve even installed a dedicated wi-fi ISDN line in every room so that you can post piccies of your beautiful room on social media! Should you be travelling with little ones, interconnecting bedrooms are available, along with travel cots and pull-out beds.
Lots to see and do locally
Depending on your agenda, there’s plenty to see and do! The Packhouse is a great find should you be looking for gifts or bits for the house as too, is local village Hartley Wintney, which is the antique shopping mecca, but is also home to some fab boutique shops including Cashmere Goose and No 3 New & Nearly . If you’re wanting a full day out of adventures, you are spoilt for choice, from high wires and long walks to Marwell Zoo and Winchester Cathedral. If you’d prefer an experience based around food and drink, why not try gin tasting at the Bombay Sapphire Distillery , a brewery visit or a tour of local vineyards including Albury, Hattingley Valley and High Clandon vineyards – there’s so much to do, you may just have to come back later in the year…Christmas perhaps?! It’s a great time of year to experience the various festive offerings in and around the surrounding areas.
